This week at Pitch Profiles, I spoke to neuroscience researcher turned science communicator, Sarah Khoury. Sarah (she/her) previously worked as a Senior Research Assistant at UT Health San Antonio. Through Science with Sarah, she now aims to connect the public with science by inspiring people to explore the world around them.

This week at Pitch Profiles, I spoke to neuroscientist Debs Chaliha (she/her). Debs is a PhD candidate at Curtin University and the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science where she researches preventative treatments for migraines.

This week at Pitch Profiles, I spoke to neuroscientist Elzbieta Dulko. Ela is a Neuroscience PhD Candidate at the University of Virginia. Her project focuses on childhood absence epilepsy, using electrophysiology to simultaneously record hundreds of neurons in the mouse brain to determine how seizures originate.

This week I spoke to neuroscientist Melissa Papini, a PhD student at Curtin University and the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science. Her work explores biomarkers to enhance the identification and evaluation of brain damage after concussion. She is passionate about bridging the gap between research and the clinic, and is deeply committed to promoting inclusivity in science.

This week at Pitch Profiles, we spoke to neuroscientist Adriana Volosevic. Adriana is a Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner at the University of Worcester NHS, where she is learning to apply her knowledge of neuroscience in clinical settings. During her Masters, Adriana investigated the biopsychosocial aspects of autism and conducted research on visual processing using eye-tracking.

This week at Pitch Profiles, I spoke to cardiovascular biologist Zuzanna Jablonska. Zuzanna is a PhD student at Imperial College London where she researches ways to prevent cell death after heart attack and overcome issues around traditional therapeutic strategies. She is passionate about making science more accessible to a wider audience and inspiring younger generations to pursue STEM careers.

This week at Pitch Profiles, I spoke to science communicator River Terrell. River is a research assistant at the The University of Texas at Austin where they study science communication as well as the lived experiences of both LGBTQ+ individuals and those involved in climate advocacy. River is also a content creator and science storyteller through their page STEM with grace.

This week at Pitch Profiles, I spoke to neuroscientist Mariana Braga Moreira de Sousa Martins. Mariana is a research assistant at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases investigating the role of specific proteins in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Mariana is also active on Instagram with her page @neuro.scicomm where she shares content about a variety of neuroscience-related topics.

This week at Pitch Profiles, I spoke to neuroscientist Rebecca Lee. Rebecca recently completed her neuroscience Honours degree at The University of Queensland, where she investigated how to use brain stimulation techniques to promote recovery following stroke.
