Hey there, I'm Lily!

Science communicator.
Neuroscientist.
Certified nerd.
Person behind Pitch Science.

Chances are that you’re here in my small corner of the internet because you have science stories that matter.

And let me say… you’re in the right place!

I founded Pitch Science to help scientists and science organisations actively use their work as a tool for change.

During my time at the lab bench, I noticed that many of the marketing teams at science organisations are extremely good at what they do but they generally lack the training to decipher and then communicate the complex science they’re promoting. More often than not, this means they don’t even try to tangibly share research findings and they rarely employ a science communicator for their team who can accurately transform the science into content.

But science isn't just for scientists! It’s critical that the incredibly important work being done within the scientific community is also made accessible to those who live outside the jargon-filled world of research.

And thus, Pitch Science was born…

You get the science right,
I’ll get the story right &
We’ll get it seen by people who matter

I work closely with all of my clients to build support and awareness for all of the amazing work they do.

Whether they’re representing a science brand or are an individual researcher, in need of a brand-new brand or simply some ad hoc content creation, I’m here to help. Armed with experience in both scientific research and digital communications, I’m fully dedicated to helping all of my clients STAND OUT online.

Keen to hang for a bit longer and get to know me better? Here’s a few fun facts about me!

  • If I’m listening to music, chances are that I’m listening to a musical cast recording. When I experience stories through song, it’s like I can feel my brain light up. And before anyone asks, it’s far too hard for me to select my favourite musical, though honourable mentions do go to Phantom of the Opera and A New Brain.

  • My passion for scientific integrity and keen eye for detail likely come from being autistic! I’m a late diagnosed autistic and ADHD woman who is proud of her neurodivergence. I firmly believe that with a healthy dose of neuro-affirming action, we can turn the world into a much more understanding and supportive place for all.

  • My favourite author is Kurt Vonnegut – I have the entire collection of his novels, short stories and essays, arranged in chronological order for ease of convenience, of course!

  • I created my first website for communicating world issues to the public when I was 10 years old. It was called Stop and Think, and despite being unable to access or edit it in any way, it’s somehow still active. Since you’ve made it all the way to the bottom of the page, I’d say that you’ve earned the link – but I do ask that you don’t judge me! Though I’ve definitely come a long way since the mid to late 2000s, such as – you know – becoming an adult with a PhD, no one can argue that I’m not sticking to my roots. To quote my child self:

“Have you ever wanted a website that explains world issues in simple and understandable ways?… I'll be showing you all the facts in easy to read ways”
